As a Beautiful Old Soul Left, a New Year Began

05/26/18 | Readings, Uncategorized, Writing

The lovely hand I am holding on this web page’s banner belonged to a beloved life-long friend of my mother. Elizabeth was a classy woman, always bedecked in a stylish hat to go with whatever she was wearing. She and Mother were known for their hats! Beyond that, Elizabeth was gentle, kind, unassuming woman with a smile and a laugh always at the ready… truly a joy to all. She was as capable of fixing a leaking faucet as she was running a household with eleven children. While there were 32 years difference in our ages, she graciously allowed me to feel like a friend, even a contemporary. When her 97 year old soul left this world, a hole opened up in mine.  It was a friendship to treasure forever.
